A curriculum where our boys are learning vocabulary of their own free will? Yes!! Our boys have thoroughly enjoyed learning hundreds of vocabulary words as a result of this program, and I have grown to love this resource that spurs our children on to laughter – and to learning just for the sake of learning.

  2. Rachel O (verified owner)

It’s the best material for teasing grammar aged kids into learning ANYTHING (literature, history, English, even science) hands down. This course piques curiosity in knowledge, period. Buy it.

  3. Debra B

This program is amazing. This is the best vocabulary program I’ve seen. I love the theme approach of using a Latin and Greek root for the same word and exploring derivatives. Even with vocabulary words that are already familiar, the format of looking at the Latin/Greek roots helps to teach how to figure out unfamiliar vocabulary. I particularly like that there are flashcard exercises available to continue to work with the vocab after the video lesson. Dwane Thomas, as usual, makes it so my kids are laughing and learning, so telling them we’re going to do vocabulary isn’t met with groans and “Do we HAVE to?”

  4. Nancy S

It’s the most personal, memorable and entertaining Latin instruction on the planet. Everyone would want to study Latin if they watched these videos. I love that Dwane always says, ” You are now smarter!” You truly are!

  5. Jami S

In a few words, it’s an engaging and funny show that turns out to be highly educational. The presentation makes the information stick like glue. Thumbs up!

  6. Wendy P

My elementary kids absolutely love Dwane’s nonsensical vignettes and they haven’t forgotten a single root he’s taught them!!!

  7. Melissa R

THE BEST EVER!!!! I WOULD USE MORE OF ANY SUBJECT LIKE THIS!!!

  8. Katie W

This is the joy of our home school! We use it as a special weekly treat; the kids think Duane Thomas is hilarious, and we find the new words intriguing.

  9. Ariana C

A fun way to study. When I was in fifth grade, we had to make “cognate cards” – index cards with a Latin or Greek root on one side, and words and definitions with that root on the other. In comparison, this is SUCH an engaging way to teach students vocab words to prepare for tests and improve their writing.

Love it! My daughter loves this. It is funny, engaging and exciting. She also enjoys the Quizlet games after the video.

  11. Cathy

These are great fun to watch!

Dwane’s teaching style is a cross between lecture and stand-up comedy.

  13. Kristi

Dwane Thomas, the host of Word Up! (and Visual Latin) is funny and engaging with the kids.

“We may never get to math. Ben wants to watch “just one more” WordUp video.”

  16. Lisa

We love Word Up! My boys ask to watch the videos and love to show it to anyone who visits our home. They find Dwayne hysterical and are learning in a super fun way. I love the fact that I can access tests, review, flash cards etc. through quizlett. Can’t wait for the next dvd!

We’ve tried WordUp as an entertainment/educational program. As such, the family gets together over popcorn or lunch in front of the big screen TV with the program downloaded on
our little hard drive, plug it in and enjoy. It is great for laughs while you imbibe the information. Now that’s what I call learning!

  18. Jennifer

It covers lots of different types of learners. We have showed them to friends who like them as well. Keep up the great work, we look forward to more great products. Prices are very good.

Refreshing! Very helpful and fun resources that address areas that are beyond my scope of knowledge. As a bonus, my 4 year old will never forget what defenestrate means, nor the potato sack joke.

  21. Cheryl

Word Up! has been a fun introduction to greek and latin word roots for both my DS grade 4 and my DD grade 7. Both enjoy watching the short videos and following up in the
    quizlet application.

  25. Kellye

We have been using Word Up The Vocab Show for several months now, and it is something we look forward to each week. The videos are so funny, yet not at all cheesy, and my daughters (6th and 8th grade) look forward to us all watching them, sometimes two and three times just to laugh. We then use the quizlet flashcards to review the rest of the week and the girls take their quiz online when they are ready and then print it out! The ease of this program for mommas and the fun and engaging nature of it for the kids makes it a favorite in
    our house!!!

  26. Lora

My family has loved Word Up! My son actually asks to watch the lessons and loves being able to quiz himself. The videos are well done and we have all enjoyed the on location views. The is a great way to build vocabulary skills.
